New Orleans – The Notre Dame Fighting Irish are set to face the Georgia Bulldogs in the prestigious Sugar Bowl game. After the postponement, both teams stayed at their hotels due to security concerns but received strong protection yesterday. The Georgia Bulldogs managed to practice on the field, while Notre Dame chose to practice behind closed doors.

It will be fascinating to watch No. 7 Notre Dame play against No. 2 Georgia Bulldogs. The winner of this game will advance to the Orange Bowl in Miami.

Riley Leonard, the quarterback for Notre Dame, brings a wealth of experience to the game. Previously playing for Duke, he delivered an incredible performance with a remarkable record of 2,293 passing yards, 17 touchdowns, and 751 rushing yards with 15 touchdowns.

On the other hand, the young Gunner Stockton will take on the role of quarterback for the Georgia Bulldogs. Though relatively new, he has shown impressive skills and game-winning potential. It will be exciting to see how he performs today.

Georgia Bulldogs’ coach, Kirby Smart, shared his thoughts with the media, saying, “Things are bigger than football out there.” He promised an intense and rough game between Notre Dame and the favorites, Georgia Bulldogs

The Fighting Irish led the Bulldogs 23-10 with two minutes left in the fourth quarter. Quarterback Riley Leonard  completed 15 of 24 pass attempts for Notre Dame for 90 yards and one touchdown. He also contributed to the running game with 80 yards on 14 carries, including a 32-yard run for a first down in the second quarter. 

Kicker Mitch Jeter was called on again on his  third field goal attempt from 44 yards out. Jeter completed a  47-yard run in the fourth quarter to extend the Fighting Irish lead to 13-47. Jeter made field goals of 44 and 48 yards in the second quarter. 

Notre Dame advanced the ball down the field on two runs by running back Jadarian Price late in the third quarter. Price was able to gain 8 and 7 yards, respectively. Wide receiver Jordan Faison also picked up 6 yards on Notre Dame’s final play of the quarter.

The Fighting Irish carried their first-half momentum into the second half, scoring a touchdown on a kick return early in the third quarter.

Jayden Harrison returned a kick 98 yards for a touchdown with 14 left in the third quarter.

Halftime: Notre Dame 13, Georgia 3

Notre Dame headed to the locker room strong after following up Mitch Jeter’s 48-yard field goal with a quick turnover and a touchdown. Defensive lineman RJ Obeng forced a fumble on Georgia QB Gunner Stockton while sacking him, but defensive lineman Junior Tuihalamaka recovered it.

On the next play, Notre Dame quarterback Riley Leonard completed an up-center pass  to receiver Beau Collins for a 13-yard touchdown with 27 seconds left in the second quarter.

Jeter made an impact with two field goals in the second quarter  to extend Georgia’s lead to 6-3. The South Carolina transfer hit a 44-yard field goal and a 48-yard field goal tonight.

Notre Dame fought its way  into field goal range after Riley Leonard added a 10-yard run on another quarterback keeper. Mitch Jeter attempted a 48-yard field goal  with 39 seconds left in the first half.

Mitch Jeter made a 44-yard field goal on fourth-and-7 with  20 minutes left in the second quarter to tie Notre Dame with Georgia at 8:44. The scoring drive included a 32-yard run by Riley Leonard on a quarterback keeper  to gain a first down.

Leonard was Notre Dame’s second runner this season. Louisiana native Peyton Woodring made a  41-yard field goal  to give the Bulldogs their first lead, 12-4, with  14 minutes left in the second quarter.

After Q1: The Georgia Bulldogs and Notre Dame are playing a tough and intense game. Neither team scored during the first quarter, though there were some passing and rushing yards gained. Both teams are putting up a strong fight, but the quarterbacks need to implement more effective strategies to make an impact. Let’s go, Leo and Gunner!
